- Blood message was a surprising highlight of the Summer Game Fest 2026 live show
- This is an upcoming story-driven single-player game set in ancient China.
- With tense stealth, brutal combat, and fast-paced chase sequences, it feels like a cinematic. Unexplored
If you watched the Summer Game Fest 2026 live broadcast, you may have spotted a very cinematic trailer for a game called Blood message. Set in ancient China (late Tang Dynasty in 848 AD to be precise), it’s billed as a strictly single-player, story-driven adventure, and so far it really reminds me Unexplored.
I played a small portion of the game at the show, showcasing a mix of nifty stealth and unapologetically brutal combat. The production value of everything I saw was simply off the charts, with incredibly dynamic and fluid animations that could easily have come from a new Naughty Dog release.
My session culminated in a frantic chase in which the protagonist sprinted through corridors as enemies closed in, jumping over collapsing boards, dodging incoming arrows, and even jumping over a table carried by some merchants. This is the kind of antics you’d expect from Nathan Drake, and I definitely think it’s a good thing.
Look on it
I’m not the only one who’s impressed either, as the reaction to the most recent trailer has been very positive so far. “The story and voice acting are excellent, and the graphics are top-notch as well,” one YouTube commenter wrote. “It could be better than The Ghost of Tsushima“, posted another.
The story follows an anonymous messenger who, alongside his son, is tasked with traveling across a tumultuous land in order to deliver the key to his homeland’s destiny.
The game is developed by 24 Entertainment, a subsidiary of publishing giant Netease Games. You may recognize the name 24 Entertainment, as it’s the same studio that created the popular free-to-play martial arts battle royale. Naraka: Blade tip.
This is the developer and publisher’s first AAA single-player title, and it does indeed look promising. There’s no word on an official release date, but we do know that it’s being developed using Unreal Engine 5, in addition to some proprietary technology, and will launch on PC and consoles.
