PML-N has finalized around 90 percent of the tickets for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), which will be issued in a day or two, a PTI Kashmir chapter leader said.
He attended the meeting, chaired by PML-N president Nawaz Sharif, as the party continues its election campaign in AJK.
“The PML-N president has approved around 38 tickets for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which will be issued on Thursday or Friday,” the party leader said. The Express PK Press Club under condition of anonymity.
He said that except for one seat – LA-10 Kotli City, where a new candidate, Fateeh Mehmood Kiyani, got the ticket in place of seven-time MP Malik Muhammad Nawaz – there were no surprises. He added that the AJK party leadership received tickets as expected and requested.
The ticket for LA-41 (Valley-2), a refugee headquarters in Lahore, was denied pending formal approval from Hamza Shehbaz, under whose jurisdiction this headquarters falls.
He said the seat should be given to Ayesha. He further said that party president Shah Ghulam Qadir was given tickets for Upper Neelum (LA-25) and Lower Neelum (LA-26).
He added that according to his information, tickets for six seats were pending, including LA-45 (Valley-5, Peshawar-Hazara), where an ally could be issued the ticket.
The source said Nawaz was of the view that an amicable solution should be found to the “mess” created by the recently banned faction.
He added, however, that the party would continue its election campaign at full steam as protests and sit-ins were limited to only three or four constituencies.
He noted that the law and order situation was the responsibility of the administration, adding that it believed that refugees should not be deprived of their seats. “These refugees have no voice and no representation other than these seats. »
Asked about the divergent views of different parties, he said that since 10 seats are in Punjab, it gives the PML-N an added advantage as the only other party with a significant vote bank is in “disarray”. He added that other parties without roots in the province would face difficulties. “Remove these seats and the PML-N loses its advantage.
