The royal family appeared in good spirits as they gathered to celebrate the nuptials of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling, welcoming the newest member into the fold.
Harriet, who is an NHS nurse, already seemed to get on well with the members. The wedding took place earlier this month and appears to be a joyous occasion for the family.
However, some shocking drama unfolded behind the scenes between Prince William and Queen Camilla over the wedding, sources revealed to Heat magazine.
The new bride-to-be found herself embroiled in a major dispute that ensued behind palace walls over royal jewelry protocol. Harriet is not a royal, but there are mixed feelings about borrowing of royal treasures by non-royals.
“William was furious with Camilla for preventing Harriet and Peter from accessing the royal family’s jewelry collection,” the source said. “
He wanted them to have this option, but Camilla was adamantly against it, which was a huge and heated topic of discussion during the lead-up to the wedding, and everyone was quite shocked to see William and Camilla go for it like this.
However, Harriet never chose anything from the private collection and instead opted for the Pragnell family piece. Sources say it was about Harriet’s diplomacy rather than William and Camilla winning an argument.
The sources claimed that although the atmosphere at the wedding was a bit tense, but as both Prince William and Queen Camilla are very protocol-conscious, they did not make a scene.
They “barely recognized each other, but they remained very civil, so at least there was no external ugliness.”
Meanwhile, Harriet and Peter focused on their big day and the new chapter in their lives.
