- Google Health 5.02 is now rolling out to users
- It comes with several new features and bug fixes
- Online reaction is increasingly positive
The big switch of users from the Fitbit app to the Google Health app could have gone a lot smoother than it did, but with the latest update now rolling out to devices, Google appears to be gradually responding to many of the complaints that have been aired.
As spotted by Android Police, Google Health 5.02 is now heading to phones. There’s also a forum post outlining some of the changes: the ability to put more metrics in the Today view and an easier way to reorder them, fixes for editing and deleting sleep sessions, and a return for the hourly activity graph.
There are also numerous “bug fixes and stability improvements,” as well as nutrition logging improvements. Many of these changes focus specifically on the parts of the app that users have complained about. So it seems Google is listening to feedback.
We’re also promised more updates “in the coming weeks,” so Google Health should continue to improve over time. There was also a major update earlier this month that addressed several reported issues in the app.

The redesign of the Fitbit app under the name Google Health has sparked a lot of reaction online. Many old features have been changed, moved, or removed entirely, while the change has understandably frustrated those who have been using the app for years.
Based on the feedback we’re currently receiving, Google is slowly winning people back, although there is still a lot of work to do. “It seems like they’re working really hard to improve it,” says one Reddit user, while others praise the Google team for their “solid work” and are generally more positive.
That doesn’t mean everyone is convinced, however. One article states that there are “no solutions to the real problems” (like better syncing and importing), while others point out that the algorithms used by the app are still unreliable.
The new AI coach is also criticized for being too intrusive and verbose: “No one wants two paragraphs after a walk in the park,” says one user on Reddit. “A single line and the capacity for expansion are necessary here.”
