Microsoft acknowledges Windows 11 bug affecting Recycle Bin, and ‘fatigued’ users think AI coding is to blame

  • A new Windows 11 bug has reached the trash
  • You may see wrong file name displayed
  • Microsoft says it’s working on a fix

The latest frustrating bug to hit Windows 11 affects the trusty Recycle Bin, and it was apparently delivered by the latest Patch Tuesday (KB5094126) – although Microsoft says it’s aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

As Neowin reports, the bug means that when you try to delete a file from the Trash, the confirmation dialog shows the internal file name rather than the actual file name. It’s not particularly bad, but it is confusing.
