- Microsoft Outlook for Mac update stopped email replies
- Users have difficulty loading answers
- The issue affects Outlook for Mac version 16.110, build 26061317.
If the Microsoft Outlook update released last week left you wondering where previous email replies went, you’re not alone.
An update to the email provider last week caused previous responses to disappear and no fixes have been released yet.
The error appears to be limited to Mac users running version 16.110, build 26061317. The only known fix at the moment is to revert to the previous version of Outlook for Mac and (temporarily) disable automatic updates.
Update stops responding on Outlook for Mac
Several users shared their frustrations on Microsoft’s Tech Community and Learn forums, saying the lack of responses was affecting their ability to properly respond to emails or forward email chains to colleagues.
Fortunately, there is a workaround, which was helpfully pointed out by a Microsoft forum moderator. By reverting to the previous version of Microsoft Outlook for Mac, replies and email chains are restored. But you will need to disable automatic updates to prevent Outlook from downgrading to the broken version again.
How to restore your Microsoft Outlook for Mac
- Access update history for Office for Mac using this guide
- Restore your Outlook to version 16.109.3 or earlier by following the steps provided here
- Turn off automatic updates on Legacy Outlook for Mac by going to Help > Check for updates, then uncheck “Automatically keep Microsoft apps up to date.”
- Once the patch is deployed, remember to recheck automatic updates
Until an official fix is released, this appears to be the only way to load replies on Outlook for Mac. All updates from Microsoft will be posted here.
If your organization has certain administrative barriers enabled, you may not be able to remove the current version of Outlook.
