King Charles delights his grandfather with good news

King Charles has built a reputation as a devoted grandfather, who is set to reunite with his US-based grandchildren after four years.

While matters are being settled behind the scenes, the monarch continues his work. Charles seemed to have a grandpa day after sending him some positive news.

Steven Thompson, who works as a self-employed accountant, had received a letter from Charles informing him that he would obtain a BEM [British Empire Medal] in the King’s Birthday Honors for his decades of voluntary work.

The 62-year-old initially thought it was bad news that he had been caught in a speeding incident just days before, but the “official-looking letter” lifted his spirits.

Steven has been training some of the best sportswomen for over three decades. He remembers taking his son, Matthew, to Fairwood Waterloo Rugby Club (FWFC) when he was about five, which is about 28 years ago now.

And now, he’s proudly sharing his “full circle” moment as his grandson, Daniel, plays for the team.

“If somehow in this group of young people I get them hooked and enjoying the sport. [then that’s great]” he said Echo. “I’ve had some lovely messages this week saying how much interest and passion the younger age groups have had in the sport.”
