A Chinese company has announced its intention to install 3,000 electric vehicle charging stations (EV) across Pakistan, aimed at stimulating the adoption of green energy and creating job opportunities.

A delegation from the Chinese ADM group met the Minister of Sindh of Energy Nasir Hussain Shah and other stakeholders to discuss the expansion of EV infrastructure in the country.

Addressing the media, Nasir Shah confirmed that the charging stations would be installed in urban areas and along the highways, with total support from the provincial government.

Each charging station should cost around 8 million rupees, with an initial RS1 million deposit required for installation.

The initiative is expected to generate about a million jobs, which gives a major boost to the employment sector of Pakistan.

ADM Group also plans to establish electric vehicle manufacturing plants in Pakistan and has already signed an agreement with the federal government for the development of the load infrastructure.

If the company installs production facilities in the Sindh, the provincial government plans to buy at least 20% of local electric vehicles.

The CEO of ADM Group, Yasir Bhambhani, said that the company was ready to start the local production of electric vehicles this year if it is approved.

He added that electric vehicles “made in Pakistan” could be exported to seven countries, including India, as part of future expansion plans.

The company aims to install three manufacturing plants in Karachi, Punjab and Balutchistan, with an annual production capacity of 72,000 units.

Investment should improve the Pakistan industry, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and contribute to environmental sustainability.
