- Anthropic has already indicated that Dispatch is in beta – launch could be imminent
Anthropic could test a mobile companion feature for Claude Cowork, giving users remote access to the autonomous agent that manages long-running tasks on their computer.
Cowork will remain a desktop-only tool for performing longer tasks autonomously, like organizing and analyzing local files and generating documents, with the mobile addition serving only as a remote control to check progress.
Importantly, users may also be able to start tasks remotely from their phone, giving the mobile app almost identical functionality to the desktop app, even though it doesn’t actually perform those tasks locally.
Claude Cowork could soon acquire a mobile controller
Screenshots of the upcoming feature were shared in an X post, implying that the remote feature can be used on both the mobile app and the web.
The company hasn’t officially announced the rumored update, but it would make sense after OpenAI introduced a Codex controller in the ChatGPT mobile app in May.
Adding remote access would strengthen Claude Cowork’s position as an always-available digital colleague, rather than simply a conversational chatbot, allowing it to complete tasks even when a human user may be otherwise busy.
The Cowork webpage says that phone pairing is now available in beta, but the finer details are unconfirmed, such as which accounts might gain access first.
A separate support article also implies that Dispatch, the remote tool, is available in beta for the Pro and Max plans, noting that an active internet connection on both devices is required and that the desktop must also be active.
Overall, the fragmented information points to an imminent launch.
