Watch live streams of the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix to find out if Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari can continue to put pressure on the Mercedes duo of Kimi Antonelli and George Russell. The season is indeed picking up, largely thanks to Hamilton, and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff summed up his current form perfectly with “If he smells blood, he goes.”
Not only was Hamilton’s second stint on medium tires at Barcelona nothing short of exceptional, but Mercedes arguably came undone, first by making a strategy error and then when their two drivers clashed, which only ended when Antonelli pitted with a powertrain battery failure. The 19-year-old still leads the Drivers’ Championship, albeit now with 41 points.
Elsewhere, Lando Norris was lucky to get on the podium in Barcelona, although it was indeed a strong run. McLaren, in fact, is only held back by reliability issues and excessive tire wear. If they can resolve these issues, they could join Ferrari and Mercedes at the top, making the season even more exciting.
Of course, Max Verstappen can never be counted on, especially at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, a circuit where he has won four times. And like McLaren, Red Bull has made steady progress. Verstappen was unhappy at Monaco after starting on the front row before recovering to finish fourth at Barcelona. He will now aim to continue this momentum and finally secure his first podium of the 2026 season.
