King Charles, who shares a close bond with his beloved daughter-in-law, decided to honor Princess Kate after she shared a positive update on her health.
Princess Kate was diagnosed with cancer just a month after Buckingham Palace announced Charles’ cancer diagnosis. While Catherine is now in remission, the King continues to receive care.
However, given their health conditions, the two royals grew closer and shared their struggles with the illness. In a bid to raise awareness and take on a personal challenge in the fight against cancer, the King had undertaken a grueling expedition to climb Scotland’s highest peak in 24 hours.
After sharing a lengthy message about the outing, which quickly became a source of inspiration for the public, the Palace gave Kate a nod about her latest achievement.
“Congratulations to the Princess of Wales,” the king’s message read.
Princess Kate explained that the reason she took on the National Three Peaks Challenge was
“not just as a physical effort but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back.”
She noted that cancer takes a toll “physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually” and that “the challenges ripple outward, affecting families, friendships, work and the quiet times we spend alone with our thoughts.”
