Katie Boulter was knocked out of Wimbledon after a first round defeat, with Britain’s hopes suffering another blow on Tuesday June 30, 2026.
The British No.2 was outclassed by Tyra throughout the match, playing her first Grand Slam draw.
The match lasted just over an hour and six minutes until Grant handed Boulter a crushing defeat.
The 18-year-old Italian phenom beat Boulter in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.
The day saw Boulter get off to a poor start as she was unable to claim a single break point and made 21 unforced errors; on the contrary, Grant did not face a single break point.
Boulter, with this defeat, became the 11th British player to concede defeat at this year’s Championships.
On the first day, all ten Britons in action at Wimbledon lost their matches.
It is the first time in nine years that British number 2 Boulter has suffered a first-round defeat at Wimbledon.
Boulter, 29, was Britain’s main hope for triumph this fortnight after 10 players went out on Monday with the withdrawal of Raducanu and Draper.
Grant, 18, trained with Jannik Sinner as a child and with this triumph she showed the tennis world that a star has arrived.
