The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said on Tuesday evening that a search and rescue operation was underway after a K2 Airways plane with five crew members on board went missing off the coast of Karachi.
In a series of messages on
Pakistan Cargo Flight’s K2 Airways B 737 en route from Sharjah to Karachi at 9:18 p.m. PST reported a navigation system problem and was promptly guided by KARACHI ACC.

“However, at 9:21 p.m. PST, an aircraft was observed on radar in rapid descent and with rapid course change, subsequently radar contact and communication was lost approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi,” the PAA said.
However; at time 21:21 PST, an aircraft was observed on RADAR in rapid descent and with rapid course change, subsequently contact and communication with RADAR was lost approximately 155 NM west of Karachi.

He added that a rescue coordination center was activated and a coordinated search and rescue operation was launched at sea through various agencies to locate the missing plane with five crew members.
Following the event, the RESCUE COORD CENTER was activated and coordinated at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.
There were five crew members on board the plane.
