The Princess of Wales took to social media to mark a “memorable day” at Wimbledon, as Arthur Fery becomes the second wild card in the history of the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon men’s semi-final. He was the first Briton to do so.
“Congratulations to Arthur Fery for becoming the first British wildcard to reach the Open Era men’s singles semi-finals, a fantastic achievement which has inspired so many,” Catherine wrote. “I wish you the best for the next round.”
She signed with her initials at the end, indicating that she wrote the message herself.
This big victory came as a fitting distraction for the royal family who have recently been embroiled in drama regarding Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex’s visit to the United Kingdom was fraught with difficulties in the weeks leading up to it. There was uncertainty over whether Meghan and the children would appear, including the idea of a meeting between Prince William and his estranged brother.
However, it seems that while the Palace deals with the problems, the Welsh remain focused on their work and their own families.
Princess Kate, who is the official royal patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), appeared at Wimbledon on Monday after completing the Three Peaks Challenge in support of the cancer charity.
