An American woman, Onijah Andrew Robinson, was the subject of a bustle of Karachi after having demanded $ 5,000 per week and expressed her desire to become a Pakistani citizen following a failed relationship with a local man.
Robinson, 33, went to Pakistan in October 2024 to marry Nidal Ahmed Memon, 19, after the two have undertaken an online relationship.
However, when he arrived, Memon, under pressure from his family, refused to marry him, leaving Robinson blocked in Karachi.
With a tourist visa expired and nowhere to stay, Robinson went to Memon’s in the garden, only to find that his family had left the house and had locked it.
Desperate and without support, she organized a sit-in outside the residence and took refuge in the parking lot of the building. His actions drew the attention of residents and passers -by, leading to growing concerns about security.
While the situation was dragging, Robinson made a striking request, declaring: “You have to give me $ 5,000 per week. I become a citizen of Pakistan.” She also threatened not to leave unless her requests are filled. This led to intervention by local authorities.
The Clifton Faiza Sodhar SDPO later met Robinson, responding to his concerns and transferring it to the women’s police station for its safety and well-being.
Meanwhile, Robinson insisted to return to the garden, where Memon had abandoned her.
Later, police sources said that Memon had been detained and denounced when his family had already left the house.
Earlier, Robinson also had a delay at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi after refusing to board his flight to the United States.
Despite the help of the American consulate and a return ticket during the disposal, Robinson resisted the clearance of immigration, causing a period of 36 minutes.
Following the Sindh government and the JDC foundation intervened, buying a return ticket for Robinson and covering its medical expenses, ensuring that it could finally return to the United States after a week of uncertainty.
