A new TV spot for Spider-Man: A Whole New Day gave us another look at the titular hero’s upcoming fight against the Hulk.
The 30-second teaser, which you can watch below, originally aired in South Korea, but has since been shared by numerous media outlets, including Discussing Film. And although it contains many clips that we have already seen in Spider-Man 4the first teaser of and Brand new dayIn the official trailer, the last five seconds of the sequence are devoted to the aforementioned battle between Peter Parker and Bruce Banner’s alter-egos.

Granted, this is just the briefest of glimpses at what is expected to be one of the Marvel movie’s set pieces. Still, there are a few big things we can glean from this sizzling final reel – including the potential return of another Spider-Man villain we haven’t seen since 2016. Spider-Man: Homecoming. Major potential spoilers immediately follow For Spider-Man 4so turn back now if you don’t want to know anything else.
On the villain front, it looks like Shocker could be part of the Marvel Phase 6 movie’s already stacked rogues gallery.
In the comics, this antagonistic individual wields vibration-based mechanical gauntlets that can deliver powerful shockwaves. For his live-action debut in Return homethe first iteration of Shocker was played by Logan Marshall-Green. However, after being killed by Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes/The Vulture, the Shocker mantle was inherited by Bokeem Woodbine’s Herman Schultz. By the way, Schultz is the only person who goes by the pseudonym Shocker in the source material.
But I digress. Brand new dayThe latest TV spot reveals that Tom Holland’s eponymous hero will use one of Shocker’s gauntlets to try to subdue the Hulk, who, for reasons still unclear, has gone on another rampage through New York City.
Does this mean we will see Woodbine appear in this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) a film? Or will Shocker only appear in a brief, split-second cameo as part of a larger montage in the film’s opening sequence that will show Spidey fighting and defeating several of his enemies? The latter would explain why Spidey has one of his gauntlets in his possession, especially if Spider-Man secretly confiscated it for future use.
The other interesting thing to note about this TV spot is that the wallcrawler won’t take on the Hulk alone.
Sure enough, at 0:10 there’s another flash and you’ll miss the clip of Spider-Man fighting the big, evil green machine. However, pause the teaser at the right place and you’ll see a gun firing from an unusual angle.
With a little editing trickery (read: turning up the brightness of your screen), you’ll be able to clearly see that Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher is lying on the ground as he takes a pop at the Hulk. Obviously Frank didn’t get the memo about the Hulk’s impenetrable skin…
So, does Castle join the fight to help Spidey put an end to the Hulk’s madness? Not according to a leaked extract from an upcoming Spider-Man: A Whole New Day art book.
According to the X/Twitter fan account BuiltFromSmash, “[The] Punisher ends up becoming embroiled in the fight between Spider-Man and the Hulk, not because he’s hunting them, but because his own mission collides with theirs. »
What does this mean exactly? I can’t say for sure. However, with rumors circulating online for months that Castle would protect Sadie Sink’s mysterious character in Spider-Man 4and his apparent involvement in deliberately forcing Banner to leave the Hulk, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is all connected in some way. Either way, let’s hope the duel between Spider-Man and Hulk ends amicably and recreates a very specific Marvel Comics scene that fans have been dying to see.
Either way, before it arrives on July 29, 30, or 31 (depending on where you live), find out everything we know so far about Spider-Man: A Whole New Day.
