Jannik Sinner beats Novak Djokovic in straight sets to reach Wimbledon final

Jannik Sinner will have the opportunity to go back.

Sinner, 24, beat Novak Djokovic in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Friday on Center Court, giving him the opportunity to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles. He will face Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday.

This is the second year in a row that Sinner has eliminated Djokovic in the Wimbledon semi-finals. It was the 12th time the two had faced each other, with Sinner winning seven matches against the 39-year-old.

Neither player blinked in the first set until Jannik Sinner broke Novak Djokovic in the ninth game of the set, taking a 5-4 lead. They had both held the service until then.

Sinner held serve in the next match, winning the first set 6-4.

In the second set, both players held serve for six games until Sinner drew first blood again, breaking Djokovic to take a 4-3 lead. Sinner then held serve to take a 5-3 lead.

Djokovic avoided defeat on his serve, reducing the deficit to 5-4. To avoid a 2-0 deficit, he had to break Sinner’s serve for the first time in the match. However, Sinner won the match without giving up a single point, taking a 2-0 lead.

In the third set, Sinner wasted no time, breaking Djokovic in the first game after four break points. Both players then each held serve, with Sinner winning the set 6-4. Djokovic didn’t break Sinner once during the match.

The crowd chanted “Novak! Novak! » between the points to try to boost the 24-time Grand Slam winner, but to no avail.

Sinner has beaten Djokovic six of the last seven times the two have played, with the Serbian’s only victory over the Italian coming in the semi-finals of the 2026 Australian Open.

Last year, Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz in four sets to win the Wimbledon title. Sunday’s final will be Sinner’s seventh career Grand Slam final.

The Italian star will face Alexander Zverev on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. Zverev is looking to win his second consecutive major title after winning the French Open in June.
