England are set to face Norway at Miami Stadium on Saturday, July 11, in the quarter-finals, as both teams look to secure a place in the last four of the 2026 World Cup.

England are coming off a satisfying victory against Mexico at the Mexico City Stadium, a match played in difficult circumstances against the host nation, at altitude and in a hostile atmosphere. Yet England produced one of the most inspired national team performances in their history, beating Mexico 3-2 in the round of 16.

England also had to come from behind late in the round of 16 against DR Congo, where a brace from Harry Kane in the 75th and 86th minutes saved England from a shocking upset.

For Norway, a late winner from Erling Haaland saw the team beat a strong Ivory Coast side in the round of 16, before facing Brazil in the round of 16. A brace from Haaland allowed Norway to surprise Brazil and reach the last eight.

Who are the referees for England vs Norway?

French referee Clément Turpin will be the head referee between Norway and England in Miami. The highly experienced UEFA referee has officiated many high-profile matches both on the club and international scene, including the 2022 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

He has also refereed several French national finals, a Europa League final, European Championship matches, World Cup qualifying playoffs and many other high-stakes matches.

This is Turpin’s third World Cup and his fourth appearance in this tournament. He has already refereed England-Croatia, Paraguay-Australia and Colombia-Ghana, in the round of 16.

This will be the highest level match Turpin has officiated at World Cup level. He previously officiated in a 2022 round of 16 match between Brazil and South Korea, but he had never officiated in a subsequent round of the World Cup until that quarterfinal match.

His compatriots Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pagès will be his deputies, while the Spaniard Alejandro Hernández Hernández will be the fourth referee.

Arbitrator: Clément Turpin (France)

Assistant referee 1: Nicolas Danos (France)

Assistant referee 2: Benjamin Pagès (France)
