The Holy Grail of LED cinema: the world’s largest screen is the size of 700 televisions and contains 44 million pixels

  • GDC Technology will install the world’s largest cinema LED screen, a 30m x 16m wall-to-wall curved screen in the Cinemagnum auditorium at the Cinecittà in Nuremberg
  • The screen will offer a native 8K+ resolution, leveraging GDC’s Tricorne Premium LED technology to ensure the wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling screen delivers a cutting-edge experience for German moviegoers.
  • The biggest improvement is in the audio department: the design of the micro-perforated, acoustically transparent panel that places the speakers behind the LED wall, solving the dialogue localization problem.

Hong Kong-based GDC Technology was commissioned to install the world’s largest LED cinema screen in the Cinemagnum auditorium at the Cinecittà multiplex in Nuremberg, Germany.

The screen, which offers a native 8K+ resolution, uses GDC’s Tricorne Premium LED technology to deliver a sharp image. With 44.1 million pixels, thanks to its use of Premium Tricorn LED with a pixel pitch of 3.3mm, it offers over 33% more screen real estate than a traditional 8K display.
