PTI will finalize its August 5 protest strategy today

With calls from within the party and PTI founder Imran Khan’s family to step up pressure on the government

LAHORE:

The PTI will hold a parliamentary meeting on Wednesday (today) to discuss a wide range of issues, with the party’s strategy for the planned August 5 protest expected to dominate the agenda. Recommendations from the meeting will be submitted to the party’s political committee for a final decision.

With calls from within the party and PTI founder Imran Khan’s family to step up pressure on the government, the August 5 nationwide protest announced by TTAP is seen by the party as an important opportunity that could provide the political breakthrough it has long sought. Based on discussions with party leaders, the PTI intends to play a much more active role in the protest campaign rather than leaving mobilization solely to TTAP.

“We know that TTAP, without PTI, is nothing, so this time PTI should take the lead and support TTAP with all its might,” a party leader said. “We have exhausted our political capital, so we don’t have enough room to let TTAP waste another opportunity.”

When asked what strategy the party should adopt, the leader said the answer was not simple. “Unfortunately, in Punjab we are facing a ruthless and ruthless dictatorial regime,” he said.

Another PTI leader said the party must be careful in its criticism of the establishment if it hopes to find a way out of the current political impasse.
