- Squarerspace launches new limited release tool
- Features include a limited-time cart, purchase quantity limits, and low inventory badges
- Available worldwide now, although limited to certain subscription plans
From gaming consoles to toilet paper, there are countless examples of how scarcity can make a product more desirable. Whether it’s a clever marketing tactic or a simple supply issue, limited availability motivates FOMO. Today, Squarespace, one of the largest website builders on the market, launched new tools to help users with limited releases and product drops.
So whether you want to build anticipation behind a unique t-shirt design or want to limit spaces in an exclusive yoga class, Squarespace aims to equip sellers with everything they need to turn a limited-availability product or service into the hottest purchase on the internet.
Driving emergency
Key features of Squarespace’s new tool include:
- A reserved cart feature that holds items upon checkout for a limited time, with a countdown, helping to manage urgency and replenish stock if the user fails to pay.
- Inventory management tools that allow merchants to set quantity limits, preventing individuals from scanning inventory, while creating a feeling of exclusivity.
- Seamless checkout, providing a shortcut to purchase, so customers don’t have to leave the store page to view their cart and pay
- Hype generation tools, including low inventory badges and email campaigns, to help merchants build anticipation and signal scarcity.
“We’re seeing entrepreneurs move away from permanent discount models and toward exclusive, highly curated versions that celebrate the value of their work,” said Kevin Doerr, president of Squarespace. “With our new limited-release sales tools, we’re giving entrepreneurs control of when and how they sell – reducing operational burden and giving them everything they need to build hype, manage surges in demand, and deliver a seamless checkout experience.
According to a press release shared with TechRadar earlier this week, limited release tools are available globally, although availability will vary depending on your subscription plan.
