- PlayStation delayed the launch of the FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick
- The company says production delays caused the material to be postponed.
- PlayStation 5 peripheral will no longer launch on August 6, but “at a later date”
PlayStation has released an update on the release of its FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick, announcing that the hardware has been postponed.
The FlexStrike was originally scheduled to release on August 6, but now, in an updated PlayStation Blog post, the company has confirmed that “due to unexpected production delays” it “will launch at a later date.”
“We’re working to ensure we’re delivering the best possible experience for our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product,” PlayStation said.
“We apologize for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches.”
Pre-orders for the Fighting Stick opened on June 12, but the company has confirmed that players can check the status of their order through PlayStation Direct and will receive communications regarding their order.
“Players who pre-ordered from another retailer should check for updates directly from that retailer or contact them with any questions,” it adds.
The FlexStrike is a PS5 peripheral and costs $199.99 / £179.99.
TechRadar Senior Reviews Editor Harry Padoan had a chance to test the Fight Stick earlier this year, writing that it “hits the right marks” in terms of performance when tested against Marvel Tokon: Fighting Soulsand is “accessible and simple to use” and “delivers ultra-low latency in both wired and wireless capabilities.”
Elsewhere, Sony announced plans to end production of physical game discs. While remaining silent in the face of backlash, the company recently released an ad for the FlexStrike, which received massive response.
