Is it a microwave, is it a fryer, is it a… soup maker? Ninja’s latest launch could be the only appliance your kitchen needs

Although they are quick and convenient, microwaves tend to make foods soggy. That’s where Ninja’s new Crispi Microwave comes in, combining the rapid heating of a microwave with the crisping effect of an air fryer.

Ninja’s new version isn’t the first microwave and air fryer combination on the market; Brands such as Samsung, Smeg and even IKEA have all launched their own two-in-one devices capable of defrosting, cooking and crisping meals and leftovers.

There are two key elements that set the Ninja Crispi microwave apart, the first being its wide range of convenient presets for common kitchen tasks. Not only does it have the usual settings you’d expect for tasks like reheating frozen dinners and bringing leftover pizza back to life, but it also has dedicated modes for making soup, making popcorn, and even softening butter, taking the guesswork out of simple kitchen tasks that would typically require careful monitoring to ensure nothing melts or burns.

The second unique selling point is the use of non-toxic glass for air frying. The Ninja Crispi and Ninja Crispi Pro air fryers cook food in resealable glass containers rather than in a drawer, giving you peace of mind if you’re worried about non-stick coatings. The Crispi microwave contains a deep dish made from the same glass, with a capacity of 5.5 quarts/5.2 liters. According to Ninja, it’s big enough to hold an 8-pound chicken or four slices of pizza.
