One terrorist was killed and five others injured in Wana, South Waziristan, as security forces foiled a major terror plot by destroying an “explosives-laden vehicle intended for a suicide attack” during an intelligence operation on Saturday, state media said citing security sources.

Citing security sources, the message further highlights: “The operation helped avert a potential disaster in Wana and the surrounding area, with one terrorist killed and five others injured.”
He also said that “this successful action prevented significant civilian casualties” and ensured the safety of the local population.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid tribute to security forces for foiling a “major terrorist attempt in Wana”.

He further said that “security forces destroyed an explosive-laden vehicle and motorcycle” with “highest professional skill” before the terrorists could attack.

Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Saturday said a wanted terrorist was killed during an intelligence operation in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a CTD statement, the slain terrorist was identified as Khalid alias Commander, who was wanted in several cases, including the targeted killing of CTD agent Muhammad Ali, who was martyred on March 17, 2025.
The department said it received confirmed intelligence through its technical team that Khalid was present in Korai area within Shorkot police station limits.
Acting on this information, a Special Weapons and Tactics team of the CTD launched an intelligence-based targeted operation on the Tank-Dera Ismail Khan road early on Saturday, the statement said.
“During the operation, the terrorist was surrounded, he was asked to surrender several times and attempts were made to arrest him. However, instead of surrendering, he opened indiscriminate fire on the personnel,” the statement said. He added that he was killed during CTD reprisals.
The statement said the slain terrorist was affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan group Zakir Kochi Karwan. He also said he evaded law enforcement by concealing his identity, frequently changing his appearance and moving from location to location.
The CTD said a 9mm pistol, a hand grenade and a smartphone were recovered from his possession and taken into custody for forensic examination.
He added that efforts were underway to identify and take legal action against its facilitators, financiers and logistical support network.
