Crypto week ahead

The major Crypto events this week are taking place in Washington DC. A House Financial Services subcommittee opens with a hearing on oversight of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) comment period on proposed GENIUS Act rules extending anti-money laundering standards and sanctions to stablecoin issuers ends July 24.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s (CFTC) 24/7 trading window for perpetual Bitcoin futures closes on July 27, three months after the regulator authorized the first regulated perpetual bitcoin on Kalshi. The GENIUS Act celebrated its first anniversary this month and the resulting rules are still being drafted.

The macroeconomic calendar is centered on Thursday’s European Central Bank decision, with markets banking on a wait-and-see approach.

Traders will also be watching geopolitical developments and oil prices for potential clues about what markets might do next.
