Queen Camilla in ‘good place’ after securing key royal post

Queen Camilla’s friend gave fans a rare insight into the 79-year-old royal’s thoughts on her huge role.

The wife of King Charles recently turned 79, and on the very day of her birthday she announced a significant project to promote reading, particularly among young students.

Speaking about how Camilla’s carefree life turned into a day full of key commitments, her friend, former MP and podcaster Gyles Brandreth, made a surprising confession.

In conversation with Good morning! Reviewhe said the king and queen would rather “end” work than slow down, even at this age.

“You’d think she could slow down, but they need to pick up the pace. But I never feel like she’s doing it reluctantly,” he said.

A royal commentator, Catherine Mayer, also shared her thoughts on how the Queen’s life changed after her marriage to King Charles.

She shared: “This is a woman who was really, really happy not having a career, and who loved pottering and doing things that interested her, and now all of a sudden she has this huge role.

“She lived much of her life in different directions than most of us.”

Speaking about how the Queen feels about birthdays, Mr Gyles shared: “I don’t think she sees birthdays as a big deal, but family is very important to her, so it’s her kind of celebration.

“I think the truth is, she’s in a good place, but when you tell her, ‘Well done, it’s going so well,’ she shrugs and says, ‘Well, here we go.'”
