Spain wins the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Spain’s World Cup final hero Ferran Torres decided to celebrate his country’s victory on Monday by giving a nod to President Donald Trump.
As tens of thousands of Spaniards welcomed their World Cup-winning team home with a victory parade, Torres, who scored the winning goal in the 106th minute to beat Argentina at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, was seen wearing a “Make Spain Great Again” hat – an adaptation of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan.
Torres posted a photo with the crowd of Spanish worshipers while in a vehicle, while wearing the hat and no shirt.

Although it was simply a coincidence that Torres decided to choose this hat for his celebratory outfit, Trump presented the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodrí and the rest of the team on the field after their victory.
Trump witnessed a suspenseful final, which Spain dominated throughout, alongside First Lady Melania Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino, among others.

The match was on the verge of going to a penalty shootout had Torres failed to beat Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez, who needed to make miraculous saves just to keep the scoreboard deadlocked at zero apiece.
But when Nico Williams Jr.’s header was pushed back into the box following a cross, Torres had a Grade A chance to score the ball which landed straight on his left foot. He did not disappoint.

“I think in the end the goal came from 47 million people [the estimated Spain population]“Today, destiny was written, it was made for us to win. Today we are far from our people but we tried to be as close as possible to them.”
It was only the second time Spain had reached the World Cup final, but like they did in 2010, they left with the trophy in hand and ready to go and celebrate with the masses at home.
When the final whistle blew on Sunday, some controversy arose as fights broke out on the pitch between Argentine and Spanish players, which FIFA will investigate.

But back home, especially in Madrid, the capital of Spain, it was a party that started late at night and hasn’t stopped since.
Torres and the rest of his teammates will be sure to soak up this wonderful moment before they all return to their respective clubs to begin their season in the coming months.
