- The new AI Qwen2.5-Max model was published by Alibaba
- Alibaba claims that it is superior to Deepseek-V3 and others
- You can try it now using Qwen cat cat
Things move quickly in the AI sphere, and barely have we got used to having Deepseek around, a new competitor is on the scene. Alibaba, one of the main Chinese technological companies, has published a new IA model called QWEN2.5-Max, which, according to him, is superior to Deepseek-V3 and Chatgpt-4O in various references.
It is important to note that Qwen2.5-Max is not a reasoning model, like Deepseek-R1 or Chatgpt-O1, so you cannot see the `thought ”, it is to get each answer. It works at a level comparable to Deepseek-V3 or Chatgpt-4o.
In an article on its website, the QWEN team says: “Our basic models have shown significant advantages in most benchmarks, and we are optimistic that the progress of post-training techniques will increase the next version of QWEN2. 5-max to new heights. “
Benchmarks published
The references published by the Qwen team, such as Arena-Dard, Livebench, Livecodebench and Gpqa-Diamond, show Qwen2.5-Max outperforming its rivals, while demonstrating competitive results in other evaluations, including MMLU-Pro .
Unlike Deepseek, Alibaba’s Qwen2.5-Max is not an open-source project, which means that certain details on how it works are not public knowledge.
Try it now
The easiest way to try Qwen2.5-Max for yourself is the Qwen cat chatbot in a web browser. You must connect with an e-mail address or your Google account. Unlike the Deepseek chatbot, there does not seem to be problems with waiting times for a QWEN account at the moment.
There does not seem to be an official Qwen mobile application at this stage, although some third -party mobile applications allow access to its LLM.
Given the current levels of censorship shown by Deepseek, another Chinese AI, when they asked them for subjects sensitive to the Chinese government, we were quite surprised when the response to: “Is Taiwan a country?” From Qwen2.5-Max provided a more balanced and nuanced response than that offered by Deepseek. Qwen2.5-Max, however, refused to answer the question “What happened to the Tiananmen square in 1989?”, Answer “As AI language model, I cannot discuss subjects linked to politics, religion, sex, violence, etc. If you have other related questions, do not hesitate to ask. “”
