Princess Kate reveals reality of ‘chemo brain’ as patients face cognitive challenges

The Princess of Wales has opened up about how a simple creative activity helped her cope with her cancer treatment.

Kate revealed that coloring became a therapeutic escape when she struggled to concentrate on reading or other daily tasks.

During a visit to Christie Cancer Care hospital last month, Catherine spoke with patients about the mental and physical challenges she faced during chemotherapy.

In recently released footage shared on social media, she explained that concentration was one of the biggest challenges she faced during treatment.

“I don’t know about you, but I didn’t have the ability to read or really concentrate on anything,” the princess told other patients.

She said the activity appealed to her because it wasn’t about creating a perfect result, but simply enjoying the process.

“It was just a way to play and get lost,” she explained, adding that it didn’t require “a final product or a finished piece.”

Catherine’s experience reflects a challenge faced by many cancer patients, commonly referred to as “chemo brain” or “chemo fog.”

This condition can cause difficulty with memory, concentration, and mental clarity during treatment.

Experts, including those at the Mayo Clinic, note that several factors can contribute, including treatment effects, stress, pain and sleep problems.
