The Midnight’s NIGHT token has seen a strong recovery after falling to an all-time low following a bridge exploit earlier this week, with Charles Hoskinson using the incident to make a broader case for rethinking crypto security from the ground up.
NIGHT fell by around 43% after 290 million tokens were stolen and dumped via an old Wanchain bridge on the Binance-Cardano corridor. The token has since rebounded almost 19% in 24 hours, trading around $0.022. Hoskinson pushed back on media coverage that focused solely on the accident. “Like magic they forget to mention rebound,” he posted on X.
Hoskinson described the hack as a “Monday case” in an interview with CoinDesk, but acknowledged its seriousness in a broader context.
“All software is under this huge onslaught,” he said, pointing to an increase in Linux kernel vulnerabilities that he attributes to AI-driven exploit discovery. He was blunt about the limitations of even well-constructed systems: “It’s like being 90% resistant to a deadly disease. If you’re exposed to it enough, you still end up getting the disease.
