What Tyreek Hill is known for, aside from his off-field issues with his national partners, is his elite sprinter’s speed. But the two surgeries he has undergone since dislocating his left knee in September 2025 have changed that – at least for now.
“It was my left leg that I hurt,” Hill said in a YouTube video posted Wednesday titled “The Cheetah Runs Again.” “I have no power in my left leg. I’m trying to get all the power back in my left leg,” he continued.
It’s obviously not optimal for an NFL wide receiver who relies on speed and quickness to essentially operate on one leg 10 months after an injury.

This is the reason why no team signed Hill this offseason despite the fact that the Miami Dolphins released him after 2025 and he is a free agent.
But Hill shows his characteristic optimism in the video, discussing his approach to rehab and suggesting he remains hopeful for a return to the NFL.
“I’m going to keep grinding, dog. You know?” » Hill said. “My timeline looks like, I’m not going to tell you what my timeline is, but the timeline looks really good right now, man.”
An NFL source said Hill’s timetable is to return to the league — preferably with a playoff-oriented team — before the end of this season. This would allow him to perform in the playoffs.

But even this goal may be too ambitious.
“Teddy Bridgewater dislocated his knee and he missed a year and a half and he’s a quarterback,” said Dr. David Chao, founder of Sports Injury Central, former team doctor for the San Diego Chargers and OutKick sports injury expert.
“The injury was more than an ACL. It was a knee dislocation with multiple ligaments. You’re talking about a true orthopedic emergency. And potential, never reported to my knowledge, for nerve damage – and is that why his leg still has no power?
“It’s Herculean for a quarterback to come back in a year. He’s a wide receiver. It’s not going to happen.”
Hill said his recovery required two surgeries, most recently to fix an LCL issue in February.
Hill’s video apparently marked the first time he ran on his reconstructed left limb, although it included nothing more than a few sprints in his backyard and some work in his pool.
“My knee is like, bro. What are you doing today?” » Hill said. “You know, they told me I might not be able to walk. And the dog said to me, brother, we don’t know what’s going to happen to your future. And now look at me.”
So Hill believes he’s on track for a return to the NFL at some point.

But he is clearly far from the end of his journey. And he clearly knows it.

“I’m just trying to get my explosion and my first step,” he said. “So every time I come back on the field, it’s like nothing’s missing.”
This week was just a step to get some power back into his leg.
