Fintech company Ripple made two moves Thursday aimed at boosting its dollar-backed stablecoin, RLUSD, during a month where transfer volume across the token fell 25%.
The first is Ripple Mint, a platform that allows institutional clients to create, trade, link and track RLUSD via a web dashboard or direct integration.
Until now, creating RLUSD – the process of issuing new tokens when a customer deposits dollars – usually meant organizing it directly with Ripple and waiting for a manual issuance process. APIs allow a company to automatically trigger minting and redemption from its own systems and track every transaction from dollar transfer to on-chain settlement.
Ripple has also expanded RLUSD beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum onto the XRPL EVM, Base, Optimism, Ink and Unichain sidechain, expanding the number of networks where the token can circulate.
In addition, Ripple announced Thursday evening a strategic investment in Notabene. This compliance network places RLUSD into its business payment platform, putting the token in front of institutions positioned to send and receive it.
So while Mint is designed to simplify the creation and management of RLUSD, Notabene is designed to circulate it through institutional payment rails.
