The New York Mets have been dealt another blow on the injury front, this time with the release of star Juan Soto.
The Mets hosted the reigning world champion Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night – fresh off a visit to the White House.
It was an eventful evening at the ballpark, as actress Emma Stone was there to film a movie and took time to chat with Soto before the game.

However, this may have been the highlight of the night for Soto.
The 27-year-old drew two walks, but midway through the sixth inning, the Mets knocked Soto out of the game.
The calf injury has been lingering for some time and is on the Mets’ radar. In fact, this first surfaced on July 16. Soto even had time off earlier this week to fix it.

Before the game, interim manager Andy Green even spoke about it.
“It’s getting better for him,” Green said, according to MLB.com. “I hope after today we won’t need to talk about it anymore.”
Unfortunately, that will be the case, and on social media, Mets fans were trying to deal with the latest injury news.

Soto was the Mets’ only All-Star this season, which highlights what a problem it is if he’s not in the lineup.

In 84 games this season, Soto is hitting .283 with 83 hits and 21 home runs. He is in the second year of a 15-year, $765 million contract he signed with the Mets in December 2024.
