US President Donald Trump’s approval rating among rural voters has fallen sharply.
According to the new Fox News poll, the rating reverses a brief improvement seen just a month earlier, raising new questions about one of the president’s most trusted voting blocs.
According to the poll, Trump received 44% approval and 56% disapproval among rural voters, earning a net rating of -12.
The analysis notes: “Rural voters still view Trump more favorably than the electorate as a whole. However, the gap has narrowed sharply compared to the early months of his second term.”
That’s a 14-point drop since June, when the same poll showed Trump had a 51 percent approval rating while he received a 49 percent disapproval rating, giving him a net rating of +2. Rural America has always been the base of Trump’s political support. When Trump began his second term in March 2025, his approval rating among rural Americans stood at +20.
This situation highlights the extent to which economic concerns continue to weigh on the administration. Among rural voters:
- Only 37% approve of Trump’s handling of the economy.
- Only 30% approve of his management of inflation
- 48% approve of his management of immigration
The decline comes as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections, with rural voting likely to decide close contests in states like Iowa, North Carolina, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The White House rejected those findings, with spokesperson Davis Ingle saying “the bottom line was November 5, 2024” and that Trump was working to implement “a popular, common-sense agenda.” Overall, Trump’s approval rating remains low.
