Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a salary increase for members of the Parliament, New Express reported on Friday.
This decision follows the recommendations made by the finance committee and the new wages come into force from January. Under the new arrangement, each deputy will receive a monthly salary of 519,000 rupees.
However, it is important to note that the speaker’s wages and the vice-president of the National Assembly have not been increased.
The speaker and the vice-president will continue to receive their current monthly salary from RS218,000.
In response to the questions, the president’s office said that the finance committee does not have the power to increase the salaries of the speaker and the vice-president.
