Chairman of the Board Says Artificial Intelligence (AI) Used for Marking for the First Time

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Wednesday announced the results of the First Annual Examination 2026 of Secondary School Certificate (SSC), Part I and Part II, at a ceremony in Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui officially announced the results by pressing the button.
Delivering the welcome address, Chairman FBISE, Prof. Ikram Ali Malik, welcomed the participants and briefed them about the conduct of the examinations and the performance of the board.
According to the President, a total of 292,831 candidates appeared for the SSC Part I and Part II annual examinations this year. A total of 1,006 examination centers have been established for the examinations, while 2,012 supervisory staff and 6,996 invigilators have been deployed.
The President said 10,706 teachers had applied for paper correction, while the services of 4,855 examiners were engaged for checking answer papers. He said artificial intelligence (AI) was being used for marking for the first time.
He added that 86 cases of unfair means were reported during the exams.
According to the results announced by the Board, the overall pass percentage stood at 59.77 percent in SSC Part I, where 88,646 of the 150,077 registered candidates passed. In SSC Part II, 128,070 out of 141,653 registered candidates were declared passed, recording an overall pass percentage of 91.33 percent.
In the science group, Afeera Ijaz secured the first place with 1,089 points, followed by Amna Nauman with 1,088 points at the second place and Huzaifa Haider with 1,086 points at the third place.
In the humanities group, Fatima Zahra secured first place with 1,037 points. Muhammad Maaz and Manaal Zahid jointly secured the second position with 1,031 points each, while Aneesa Nisar secured the third position with 1,023 points each.
