- Samsung tri-fold could be called the Galaxy G Fold
- Samsung teased the phone last month
- We expect a launch to happen this year
In addition to revealing Galaxy S25 phones last month, Samsung also teased a new foldable phone three times (or multi-pable, if you prefer). Now a new leak may have revealed the name that Samsung will give this next handset.
According to the seasoned forecaster Eyes1122 (via Android Authority), the new phone will be called the Samsung G Fold – which would adapt to the name of name that Samsung is currently using for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
What the “G” represents exactly here is not clear, but it doesn’t really matter. The letter “Z” would actually be more suitable for a foldable device with two hinges and three panels, but this nickname is of course already taken.
All this occurs after the launch of the Huawei Mate XT last year. The speech is that Huawei is working on more foldable with this form factor, so it seems that the triple or multiple phone is there to stay.
History so far
While Samsung has now teased a tripled phone, we no longer have official details – we therefore rely on leaks and rumors to understand what to expect when the Samsung G fold (if it’s its name) sees Finally daylight.
Most signs point to a launch in 2025, most likely alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 in the middle of the year – in fact, we could get up to four foldables from Samsung in 2025.
Based on the published Samsung patents, we know that the tripled device can also be delivered with a foldable battery, possibly sharing the time between the loads (and perhaps also by adding a little bulk to the global shape factor).
A screen size of about 9 to 10 inches was predicted, and the Samsung phone may well fall back inward, unlike the Huawei Mate XT – so a second screen would be necessary at the back of the handset to be used when The handset has been closed.
