Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the government to introduce a rescue set in Ramazan without involving public service stores, aimed at braking corruption and preventing the sale of lower quality goods.
Addressing a meeting of the federal office, the Prime Minister underlined the need for a transparent and effective rescue mechanism for Ramadan, declaring that the package of the previous year faced many complaints due to a mismanagement in public service stores.
“I had declared months ago that the current system with public service stores was not durable. Last Ramadan, there were excessive complaints concerning public service stores, so we decided to introduce a Package without them, “he said.
During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif expressed its satisfaction as to the drop in the inflation rate, noting that it went from 28.73% in January 2024 to 4.1% in December 2024.
“The gradual decline in inflation is positive development. Our goal is now on economic growth, and all relevant ministries must focus on this objective,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that the achievement of sustained economic growth remains a key challenge and has underlined the need for coordinated efforts among the ministries to stimulate economic stability.
Shehbaz Sharif also announced that Saudi Arabia had approved a deferred oil payment installation of $ 1.2 billion.
He noted that the previous deferred payment agreement ended in December 2023, but a Saudi delegation went to Pakistan on the management of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to finalize the extension.
“This installation will provide Pakistan an essential financial relief while we are working to stabilize the economy,” he said.
During the cabinet session, the Prime Minister expressed his sorrow in the face of the attack on a polio vaccination team in Jamrud, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
He made prayers for the security personnel killed and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicate polio despite the challenges of security.
