- The former PlayStation leader, Shuhei Yoshida
- Yoshida was able to play a prototype of the console and try the game “almost finished”
- The game was inspired by the CD Sega version of Silpheed
According to the former PlayStation leader, Shuhei Yoshida, the first game of Nintendo PlayStation unpublished was a space shooter.
After his departure from Sony last month, Yoshida spoke with Minnmax to remember his 31 years in the company, as well as his very first day of work where he was able to play the first match of Nintendo Playstation unpublished.
For a certain context, there was initially a partnership between Sony and Nintendo to develop a CD-ROM complementary module for the Super Nintendo (SNES) entertainment system called SNES-CD. However, the collaboration finally failed, and the project then led to the creation of the original Playstation.
Yoshida explained that he had joined Sony in 1993 after the end of the collaboration and became part of the Ken Kutaragi team to work on PS1, and it was there that he was first shown a material prototype.
“The first thing they showed us is that Nintendo-Sony PlayStation, a prototype that already works, and they had almost finished a game on it, and I was able to play it on the system the day I AI joined, “said Yoshida.
“It was like a shooter. Remember the SEGA CD system, there is an incredible game of Game Arts, a space shooter, and all the assets are broadcast from the CD … So a lot of active ingredients arriving. .. “
The game that Yoshida refers is the CD Sega version of Silpheedwho was a space shooter who placed Polygon is shipped on FMV backgrounds, and because these videos were preliminary, he explained that the unprecedented game had “richer graphics than the norm of that time”.
Yoshida said he did not remember who had created it, but it could have been developed in the United States or Japan, adding that it “would not be surprised” if Sony had the game in its archives.
Elsewhere, Yoshida recently talked about the announcement of Nintendo Switch 2, which he thought “could have been a wider revelation”, and hopes that “something that people would not expect” will be shared later.
