The confrontation between the lawyers and the Hyderabad police who seemed to have died after the announcement of the transfer of SSP Farrukh Ali Lanjar resurrected Wednesday with cops leading to leave the police to protest.
Dozens of police submitted requests asking for permission to leave their accusations for one month’s vacation in response to the announcement of the SSP from the Pressure of Legal Fraternity.
Around 3 am on Wednesday, a video was shared on social networks showing Dig Hyderabad Tariq Razzak Dharejo next to the president of the Karachi Bar Amir Nawaz Waraich who announced the withdrawal of Lanjar. “The SSP is being transferred and the excavation will visit the district bar on February 6,” said Waraich, addressing Protestant lawyers at the SSP office where the demonstration continued for about 14 hours.
The DIG said on occasion that during his visit to the bar, he would listen to lawyers and also try to fight against their grievance. Lawyers chanted slogans in the background while Waraich and Dharejo spoke. Development, however, did not go well with the district police who felt demoralized in the hands of lawyers.
The quarrel began in reaction to the seizure of a car, belonging to a defender, to PS Bhitai Nagar to use a fancy license plate and tinted glasses. Legal practitioners asked the police to cancel the FIR and release the Suzuki Mehran car, bearing the BQC-508 registration number. While the police refused to force, the lawyers gathered on Tuesday at the SSP office in large numbers. The rally quickly turned into a demonstration that lasted Wednesday at midnight on Wednesday.
“Given the illegal act of the lawyers of the SSP office, I am unable to pay my duty and I also feel discouraged,” wrote the inspector Munir Abbassi, police station Sho, in his request.
“The unnecessary protest of lawyers, the use of an inappropriate language against the police and threats to the cops have damaged the reputation of the police among the public,” said inspector Muhammad Sagheer Fateh, in charge of the anti -terrorist force , while looking for a leave.
Earlier until morning, an impression was created that SSP Lanjar will be forced to leave Hyderabad under the constraint of the legal fraternity. But, while the city police officials put their weight behind the district police chief, the situation changed in the afternoon.
Speaking of the media outside the SSP office, Dir Dharejo, who wore a track suit, explained that following the terrorist attack near Karachi airport, the Sindh police decided to do Respect the prohibition of police lights, fanciful license plates and tinged glasses in private vehicles. He said that the ban was applied without discrimination as an influential vehicles and the police were reserved in the FIR.
He said that the Hyderabad police had reserved a car that belonged to a lawyer accordingly to which the situation opposing lawyers had developed. He said they were trying to resolve the situation.
The excavation, however, made a slight exception to the use of reprehensible words which allegedly by lawyers against police officers claiming that the manner was not suitable for their profession. The SSP Lanjar, on the other hand, said that more than 50 FIR had been recently deposited in Hyderabad against such vehicles. He added that many vehicles belonged to government officers and that one belonged to a police officer currently posted in the Jamshoro district.
