- Gemini notifications now look like telephone calls on certain phones
- This should make it easier to know when the Gemini is live
- Could be an early roller of a functionality or an A / B test
Last week, Google’s Gemini Live Service received its “ Talk Live update about this’, which allows you to have a real -time conversation with you on images, files and YouTube videos displaying on the screen of your device. Now, it seems that Google brings a subtle adjustment to the notification of the service to make it look more like a friend than to chat with a robot.
Usually, when you discuss live with Gemini and not in the application, the only sign on the screen is a small notification symbol at the top of the screen, and a message in your notification center that your microphone is turned on And that Gemini can hear and answer you. Now, as 9to5google has spotted, some pixel smartphones rather show this notification as if it were a telephone call – with a more obvious chip saying that you live with the Gemini, and the possibility to hang up or put the Gemini on hold.
Although this change seems to offer user -friendly advantages – more about this below – we cannot help feeling that it is a not so subtle tip of Google to ensure that Gemini feel more like a friend That you call rather than some ethereal and impersonal.
We must note that most people still do not see the style change. This means that it could have been deployed by accident at a few, or is always at the A / B test stage. We could not see notifications of style call on any of our devices, with 9to5google saying that it appeared on a “pixel 9 pro performing Google App Beta version 16.4” – which suggests that it may not be a change ready for the mass market.
Phone a friend Ai
We hope that this change of notification goes to more devices, because a major advantage is that it serves as a more constant recall that Gemini listen to. The previous notification was more hidden, so it was easy to forget that you were still in a live cat with Gemini even if you had left the application (until it apparently responds).
Now there is a reminder on the obvious constant screen that AI is always on the other end of the line – with an easy option to leave the conversation by hanging up, or, if you just want to suspend the conversation, put The Hold (I wonder what would be the favorite choice of Gemini’s music?).
This awareness of confidentiality will be particularly useful as Gemini increase its ability to respond to the stimulus on the screen. Currently, its more limited set of features means that there are not too many reasons to let it work in the background – so you can finish the conversation before leaving the application. But as Gemini improve to help you understand a recipe that you read, or summarize a complex scientific video, or make another tip that is based on it “ see ” a different application On your screen, it will probably be much easier to forget to deactivate the AI when you have finished using it.
At least, this would be the case with the old notification style, and transform the conversation into a call should be much more obvious – although we will have to wait and see when or even if this style has been deployed more widely at some point in the future.
