Virginia McCaskey, the main long -standing owner of the Chicago Bears, has died. She was 102 years old.
McCaskey has checked the Chicago NFL franchise since 1983, when she inherited the property after the death of her father and founder of the George Halas team. George was also the first person to be a coach of the Bears.
The McCaskey family provided a statement via the Bears, saying that McCaskey has lived a “full” life.

“Although we are sad, we are comforted knowing that Virginia Halas McCaskey has lived a long life, full and faith and is now with the love of her life on earth,” said the declaration.

“She guided the Bears for four decades and based all commercial decisions on what was best for players, coaches, staff and fans.”
The Bears won the only Super Bowl in the franchise with McCaskey at the helm. Chicago beat the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl 20, largely thanks to the “Monsters of the Midway” – a nickname referring to the acclaimed defense of 1985 of the Bears.

She was born Virginia Marion Halas in 1923 in Chicago. She then studied business management at Drexel University in Philadelphia. She married Ed McCaskey in 1943.
The couple finally had 11 children together. ED died in 2008. Virginia was the longest owner of one of the main American sports leagues.
