Pakistan passport offices at the national level should face repression against the illegal mafia agent operating outside their premises.

The Director General (DG) of passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, asked all the regional passport offices to submit daily surveillance reports to the headquarters, as part of the intensified action against the agents, reported Express News.

A special headquarters team will also make surprise visits to ensure compliance.

This decision comes after the information to increase the illegal activities of passport agents, who have exploited citizens for illegal gains.

In a recent action, an agent was arrested outside the Garden passport office in Lahore, and a case was filed against him.

The DG also called on the public to cooperate with the authorities in the fight against agent Mafia by quickly signaling the illegal activities they observe.

Qazi assured citizens that government’s efforts aim to eliminate delays and corruption in the passport emission process, making it more transparent and more efficient.

“By widening the scope of passport offices and ensuring 24/7 operations, we aim to offer citizens an easier and more worthy experience when obtaining passports,” added the DG.

Last month, 24 -hour passport counters were created in the Méga Nadra centers across the country.

In accordance with the ordinances of the Federal Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi, the Passport Department created 10 passport treatment counters at the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) Mega Centers in the zones of Karachi in Nazimabad and the site, in particular in Siemens Chowrangi. Citizens can now benefit from services in these counters 24 hours a day.

According to the Director General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, the passport treatment counters 24 hours a day will be widened nationally. The Islamabad office has already worked 24/7.

The offices of Karachi Awami Markaz and Lahore of Garden Town are now open 24/7 for citizens. The delay in the emission of passports was fully discussed, guaranteeing a fluid and appropriate process for candidates.

Earlier, the government made this decision to reduce congestion to the Passport Office Central by providing alternative centers for passport services.

The initiative was finalized during the recent visit of the Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi in Karachi, where the passport offices establishment in Nadra centers was discussed.
