Hiroyuki Sanada shared an exciting update on the seasons 2 and 3 of Shōgun.
Sanada won the best actor in a dramatic series with Choice Awards 2025 Critics. While behind the scenes, he was joined by the creators of the Rachel Kondo and Justin Marks series and the trio spoke of the coming seasons of ’emission.
Sanada said Deadline: “In season 1, [Toranaga] I have not yet become a shōgun. So I would like to see him become the leader of Japan. It’s my hope.
Marks then shared a major update on the progress of future seasons, saying: “We are coming out of the writers’ room now. We have also finished with the 10 episodes and we have our final now. “”
He continued: “It allows us to start understanding how we are going to get this. But we are very excited by the plan, “he said. “I think the thing to take away, more than anything, is how, I hope that people will be surprised by some of the big ideas from the first episode of the second part. So we’re going to start there and see where it leads us for future stories. But we are really excited about this, especially for [Hiroyuki Sanada]. “”
Shōgun, Based on the novel of the same name of James Clavell in 1975, also bagged the dramatic series, the best support actor in a dramatic series and the best support actress in a dramatic series with Critics Choice Awards.
