A new rumor suggests that AMD is preparing to launch its Radeon RX 9000 series of flagship graphics cards with an “aggressive” price to compete with Arch Rival Nvidia.
As the WCCFTECH reports, while AMD has not yet revealed its price plans for its next DNR 4 graphics cards, a leak publishing on it suggests that the red team will not spoil and could assess the GPU GPUs Radeon RX 9000 low enough for the fact that the green team of real headaches.
The rumor also suggests that this price could even have an impact on the sales of the old Radeon RX 7800 XT.
The cost of war
AMD launched the Radeon RX 7800 XT in 2023 for $ 499.99 (about £ 380 / $ 725 in), so the comments of the leak suggest that the new series of GPU Radeon RX 9070 will be launched for around $ 500 at $ 600 .
This will put them in direct competition with the next GeForce RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti from Nvidia, which will be launched this month for $ 549 (£ 549 / $ 1,150 in) and $ 749 (£ 749 / $ 1,109 in), respectively. A new leak suggests that the 5070 TI could be launched on February 20.
We expect the next RX 9070 XT of AMD to correspond to the RTX 5070 Ti regarding performance – if it turns out to be correct, and it costs much less, then Nvidia could finally have a real fight between her hands.
It is not a secret that the GPUs of AMD are much less popular than those of Nvidia (you just need to look at the most recent investigation into Steam equipment to see how the Green team dominates the graphics card market For players), but the company has a good correct opportunity now, to take a decent part of the Nvidia market.
Media threshing is built regularly for the next AMD GPUs, and the reference results which are apparently early leaks are promising. If Amd nails the price, it could be with a real blow to make the life of Nvidia a little more difficult.
The launch of NVIDIA of RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 offers another opportunity for AMD to win customers. Not because they are bad GPU – far from it – but because since their launch, they have been quite impossible, because stocks were sold quickly.
Of course, this is excellent news for Nvidia, but it means that AMD could try the frustrated PC players to take one of its new GPUs rather than waiting for more stock of Nvidia cards.
We will have to wait and see whether or not AMD manages to take advantage of these opportunities.
