A historic benchmark can organize a professional boxing match this summer.
According to Ring, the Welters weight champion of WBO Teofimo Lopez is close to an agreement to enter the ring on Alcatraz Island.
Ring notes that the promoter of the Riyadh season, Turki, Alashikh, recently told ESPN that he hoped to organize a fight in the former prison one day. Lopez will fight for the brand.

“You know, sometimes I make myself in the mind that I want different places to do [fights]. Sometimes in the mountains, perhaps one day in the pyramids in Mexico, one day [the] Eiffel Tower in France, [the] Colosseum in Italy, “said Alashikh.
It is not known if the title would be to be won, but since Lopez defended its title twice last year, it seems likely.
The prison opened in 1934, but it was not even lasted 30 years.

Lopez has a 21-1 file with 13 knockouts but has not fought since June, a victory at unanimous at 12 laps against Steve Claggett.
