- An Nintendo Switch 2 patent suggests that you can connect the joy-con controllers upside down
- It would make the image turn on your screen
- The patent suggests that this could allow users to access certain ports more easily
A new Nintendo Switch 2 patent filed by Nintendo details certain potential features of the new Joy-Con controllers, and the system is apparently allowed to be used upside down.
As VGC noted, the patent suggests that the player will be able to refuse the controllers and insert them into the opposite sides. The image on the display of the Nintendo Switch 2 would then turn around, a bit like when you turn a modern smartphone or tablet.
It seems a little weird, but it could be a fairly useful feature. The patent notes that the player might want to use the system upside down to allow easier access to 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is positioned on the top in the standard orientation of the console.
We also know from the trailer of Nintendo Switch 2 Reveal that the system will include two USB-C ports-one below in the center of the console and another slightly above the side. The rotation of the Nintendo 2 switch could allow you to load the system in your favorite position and may even be necessary for certain potential accessories.
A small handful of Nintendo games demanded that the Nintendo original switch be played in the orientation of portraits, so we may see that society experiment with more means of holding the successor.
