In accordance with a prescription from the High Court of Lahore, the Environmental Department of Punjab has announced strict measures and heavy penalties to limit the useless use of water.
As part of the initiative, a fine of 10,000 rupees was imposed on washing vehicles in houses and the use of pipes for non -essential purposes. In addition, immediate action has been ordered against illegal service stations.
A special committee, composed of the main minister Maryam Aurangzeb, the Environment Secretary Raja Jahangir and the Director General of Environmental Protection, Imran Hamed Sheikh, was trained to ensure the implementation of the high court directives de Lahore.
According to the CEO Imran Hamed Sheikh, all Punjab service stations were invited to install water recycling systems before February 28. The service stations do not comply with this directive will be faced with a fine of RS100,000.
The new regulations also prohibit vehicle washing with oil -based substances and the use of groundwater on construction sites. These measures were applied under the Environment Act of Punjab with immediate effect.
The Environment Department has stressed that over the past five years, Punjab has experienced a 42% decrease in precipitation, resulting in a serious shortage of water. These steps aim to respond to increasing concerns surrounding the conservation of water.
The ministry urged citizens to comply with these regulations and to avoid the unnecessary use of water. Strict legal actions will be taken against people found violating these directives.
