- Apple Maps now supports the full coverage of the route through the United Kingdom and Ireland
- Rather than the functionality previously centered on London, you can plan a bicycle trip anywhere
- Here there is a lot of useful features, in particular by signaling steep hills, bad road surfaces and more
Apple Maps has just improved for cyclists thanks to the introduction of full support for bicycle navigation across the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Although the application may have supported cycling instructions in the United Kingdom for some time – for more than four years, in fact – so far, this navigation feature has not been impressive in terms of covered areas (it was mainly centered on London).
This has changed a lot, and as 9to5mac reports, passionate cyclists with Apple cards can now plan full trips through the United Kingdom (although not routes in several stages, it should be noted).
These instructions include important information to know for cyclists, like where very steep slopes could be present, and in fact hills that require your bike – or other parts of a way where you might need to need ‘Go to the sidewalk.
You can choose to avoid such steep hills, as well as very busy roads that apple cards can avoid for your route (while allowing you to know where available).
The roads that do not have an appropriate surface are also reported, in case you do not want what could be a riding walk (or Tyre Strait). Any route will be delivered with an estimated arrival period, as well as distance and elevation information.
A welcome decision, if a long -awaited long -awaited
Although it is clearly a welcome decision for cyclists in the United Kingdom and Ireland, there are people who raised the eyebrows for whom Apple took so long to integrate complete directions for the United Kingdom. As mentioned, this was a number of years when the coverage was quite thin on the ground.
In addition to that, there are also people who leveled criticism when routing Apple cards in terms of sending bicycle cyclists in very frequented roads, although this update also helps on this front .
The fingers have crossed that those who complained about the missing navigation application in this regard find an improvement with this major overhaul for cyclists.
