Moscow: Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sergei Lavrov, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a telephone conversation on Saturday, during which they discussed the current situation in Ukraine and the potential abolition of “obstacles Unilateral “imposed by the previous US administration, according to a Moscow Declaration Manager.

Peace talks by finishing the war in Ukraine must start in the coming days after US President Donald Trump shocked European allies by calling Russian President Vladimir Putin this week and declaring an immediate start to talks.

During the call on Saturday, which was launched by the American team, Lavrov and Rubio agreed to work on the restoration of the “mutually respectful interstate dialogue” in accordance with the tone brought by the presidents, said the Russian ministry Foreign affairs in a press release.

The two agreed to maintain contacts to solve problems in bilateral relations, “in the interest of the elimination of unilateral obstacles to commercial, economic and mutually beneficiary investment inherited from the previous administration,” said the press release.

It was not immediately clear what specific obstacles were discussed.

“The two parties expressed their mutual will to interact on pressing international issues, including the colony around Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.”

The United States under the allies of former President Joe Biden and kyiv around the world have imposed waves of sanctions in Moscow on his invasion of Ukraine three years ago, aimed at weakening the Russian economy and to limit the war efforts of the Kremlin.

Trump and Putin spoke for more than an hour on Wednesday, the first known direct contact between us and the Russian presidents since Putin received a call with Biden shortly before commanding tens of thousands of soldiers in Ukraine in February 2022 .

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that Lavrov and Rubio explained how to tighten the operating conditions of Russian diplomatic missions in the United States.

“It has been agreed to organize a meeting of experts in the very close future to agree on specific measures to eliminate each other’s obstacles to the work of the Russian and American missions abroad,” the ministry said in its press release.
